Our Cleaning Techniques for Oriental Rugs

There is no greater specialization in carpet cleaning than that of Oriental rugs. An Oriental rug's beauty is based on its color harmony and balance, design intricacy, clarity of design, texture, and the yarn patina. These are what give an Oriental rug an inviting, soft appeal. Many are hand knotted and take years to complete. They are truly a work of art. It is important to properly care for your rug in order to maintain its integrity and protect your investment.

Many companies are just not qualified in fiber analysis and color specialization, which are critical components in determining method of cleaning. We do not clean any of your oriental rugs in home. We take them back to our facility and process them with extreme care, like the works of art that they are. From the moment of arrival, your rug is gently treated like an irreplaceable family heirloom.

Before cleaning of Oriental rugs can begin, we prepare them through an inspection and testing process:
1. We thoroughly inspect and document all conditions carefully.
2. Gently remove all loose dirt and debris.
3. Dye stability test - Because no strict dye-creation standards exist throughout the rug-making regions of the world, we carefully test your rug for colorfastness and contact you with any concerns before proceeding. We also adjust our Oriental carpet cleaning process to prevent any color transfer.
4. Determine the type of fiber whether it be silk, wool, or cotton.

Your rug is carefully and individually hand-washed. Heavily soiled areas are treated one spot at a time. A specially formulated Oriental rug stain remover enzyme is used to treat any pet-soiled areas on the rug and remove both the stains and accompanying urine odors. Once clean, Oriental rugs are thoroughly rinsed using state-of-the-art compression equipment specifically designed to rinse all detergents and remove all residues from the rug fibers. This keeps your Oriental rug clean longer. Immediately following water extraction, your rug is gently groomed; optional stain protectants are then applied and your clean rug is dried. Drying is individually timed to your carpet's size and construction.
